Meet Kamukama Benard
At Pearl Drive Car Rental, the vehicle is only half of a good trip — the driver is the other half. Kamukama Benard has been part of our driving team since 2018, and he is one of the drivers our clients ask for by name when booking business travel or family trips around Uganda.
Background
Benard is from the Ankole region, born and raised in Mbarara. Growing up in one of Uganda’s key trading and transport hubs gave him an early familiarity with the country’s roads, from busy town routes to the quieter stretches connecting rural districts. That local grounding, combined with years on the road since 2018, has made him one of the most experienced drivers on the Pearl Drive team.
Skills and Experience
Benard is comfortable behind the wheel of both automatic and manual vehicles, which means he can be matched to whichever car in the Pearl Drive fleet best suits a client’s trip, from a compact automatic RAV4 for a city run to a manual Land Cruiser for tougher terrain.
He speaks English, Rukiga, Rutooro, Runyankole, and Acholi, giving him the ability to communicate comfortably with clients and communities across a wide stretch of Uganda. This range is especially useful on longer journeys and multi-region trips, where being able to speak the local language at a stop, a checkpoint, or along the route makes travel smoother for everyone in the vehicle.
